Cangon Stud Celebrate G1 Success for Ad Valorem

Cangon Stud Celebrate Group One Success for Ad Valorem

One of a diminishing number of active sons of the mighty Danzig still standing in Australia, former high class shuttler Ad Valorem (USA) tasted Group I success at Doomben on Saturday when his promising two year-old Capital Gain scored a memorable win in the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes.

Capital Gain provided his trainer Paul Butterworth with his first Group I success and made his large team of owners very happy indeed, particularly since they had knocked back several lucrative offers from Hong Kong for the talented gelding last week.

A $50,000 Magic Millions Ready to run purchase for his trainer, Capital Gain has already won over $450,000 in prizemoney and is the 14th stakes-winner for Ad Valorem.

He is also unique in being the first Group I winner for Ad Valorem, whose list of superior offspring include Group II winners Free Wheeling, Meliora, Pied a Terre and this season's Group II MRC Sandown Guineas winner Morton's Fork, so a Group I winner was most deserved and well overdue!

A former shuttler to Darley, now standing at Cangon Stud near Dungog, Ad Valorem has an impressive 57% winners to runners ratio with the majority of his stock proving precocious enough to compete successfully at two before training on to further success with Morton's Fork a prime example.

This profile fits very much with Ad Valorem, who was a Group I winner at two of the Newmarket Middle Park Stakes and then later won the Group I Queen Anne Stakes over a mile at Royal Ascot as a four year-year old.

The sire of winners of over $16million, Ad Valorem represents outstandingly good value for the owner breeder priced at an affordable fee of just $4,400.
